Other wallpapers still require a separate glue application, while pre-glued wallpaper already has adhesive on the back. Of course, self-adhesive wallpaper is much more economical, saves your precious time, and makes it easier for you to install it yourself, making it suitable for DIY beginners.

The adhesive in pre-glued wallpaper is a starch or cellulose-based compound. It provides a robust and reliable bond with the wall surface. As a self-adhesive sticker, it can last 10-15 years without peeling or lifting with proper installation.

How to Apply

Pre-Pasted Wallpaper?

1. Prepare the Wall

Ensure the wall is clean, smooth, and dry. Remove any existing wallpaper and repair any holes or cracks. It's better to apply a primer first and let it dry.

2. Cut the Wallpaper
Measure the wall height and cut the wallpaper strips to the appropriate length, adding a few extra inches for trimming at the top and bottom.

3. Activate the Adhesive.

Soak the wallpaper evenly in warm water. Usually for about 15-30 seconds to activate the adhesive.

4. Remove Excess Water
Gently shake off excess water after soaking. Too much water causes the pre-glued wallpaper not to stick well.

5. Peel and Stick Wallpaper

Gently peel back the wallpaper strip. Position the top of the strip against the top of the wall and carefully attach it to the wall. Smooth with your hands or a wallpaper spatula if there are bubbles or wrinkles.

6. Slight Overlap

When applying the next sheet, overlap the edges slightly. Then press it with a roller or similar object to smooth the final result.

Trim After Dry: If there is excess wallpaper that needs to be cut, allow it to dry. This prevents the wallpaper from shifting and ensures the edges are clean.

Use a spray bottle or damp sponge to dampen a small wallpaper section with water. Leave it for a few minutes so the adhesive can reactivate. Once softened, gently lift one corner and peel the wallpaper downwards at a 45-degree angle. If there are parts that are difficult to remove, re-wet them as needed.

4) Should the wallpaper be soaked in warm water?

Soaking water for pre-glued wallpaper should ideally be lukewarm, around room temperature, between 25 - 30°C. Hot water can cause it to warp or shrink and the adhesive to be too tacky. Cold water makes it difficult to activate the glue effectively, resulting in poor adhesion and peeling wallpaper later.

5) What if the wallpaper is soaked too short or too long?

Soaking for too long makes the pre-glued wallpaper a little softer and prone to tearing, so you have to be careful when sticking it. If you feel like you have soaked it for a short while, make sure you soak it longer so that the texture of the wallpaper is not too stiff.

6) Is pre-glued wallpaper safe for family members, especially for kids?

In general, pre-glued wallpaper is safe for families with kids. We use water-based adhesive.
