Choosing the right flooring for your home is crucial; it needs to be functional and be able to blend in with your home décor.
In Singapore, the most common type of flooring is Hardwood and Vinyl Tile Flooring.
Here at Honpo, we are going to introduce you to a newer type of DIY flooring that’s also made of vinyl, which is Cushion Floor Sheet.
What is Cushion Floor Sheet?
[br]
A cushion floor is a Cushioned Vinyl Sheet Flooring. The material is vinyl on top and glass wool at the bottom. Soft and easy to DIY cut with scissors and cutters, the price is reasonable and the pattern development is abundant! A new pattern also appeared this spring, it is an item that is riding the wave more and more.
It can be constructed from the top of the current vinyl flooring, and it is also possible to install it for rent by using double-sided tape that can be removed.

Honpo have 2 sizes for cushion floor sheets, 182CM(W) and 90CM(W). The half size sheet is 90cm and easy to spread in a small place such as a toilet and a corridor and it makes for easy transport. There is also an original pattern that can only be purchased at the wallpaper shop Honpo, so please check it out. This time, I would like to introduce the overall ranking of the vinyl cushion floor and the ranking of the half size!

Features
1. 91cm Width – Easy to Carry Around
Traditionally, cushion floor sheets are 180cm wide. At Honpo, we cut it down to 91cm, so it’s easy for even women or kids to carry, making it less tiresome when attempting DIY installation.
This means you also don’t have to overlap for pattern matching as we already cut it down to the perfect width to directly butt join with another floor sheet.

2. Convenient DIY tools – Scissors or Cutter + Double Sided Tape [PERFECT FOR RENTED PROPERTIES]
You don’t need special tools to perform DIY installation of the cushion floor sheet. Either scissors or cutter are good enough for cutting vinyl (cutter is straighter if you are doing along the edges).
As for sticking on the floor, we highly recommend using double sided tape, as floor sheets naturally adhere to the ground due to gravity, and you only need to stick it in place for them to look nice.If you consistently move heavy things around and need a more sticky solution, consider buying our Yukaharu-kun floor adhesive.

3. Resistant to Scrubs, Clean with Confidence~
When it comes to wallpaper and floor sheets, the first question that comes to mind is ‘are these water resistant’? Rest assured, Honpo’s products are all washable to a certain degree, especially vinyl floor sheets since they are very thick.
It is perfect for kids playing around or doing other activities on the floor, since it’s safe and easy to clean.
4. High Definition Realistic Prints – As Real as Hardwood, Tiles, Ceramic etc
There are hundreds of very realistic wood and tiles design cushion sheets based on real world floorings.
Our website currently has a listing ot close to 20 designs consisting of woods and tiles, which are based on their popularity in Japan.
We plan to bring in patterns that suit the local palate more in the future.
5. Suitable for literally ANY Household… Kids, Old People, Pets~
Cushion floor sheet is made of vinyl surface which is resistant to scratches and force. The bottom part is made of glass wool which explains its soft characteristic.
This makes it a flooring that’s more comfortable and safe to move around on, very well suited for kids and old people alike.
If you have an active companion like a dog or rabbit running around in your home, you should consider this product highly as well.
Without further ado, we will move on to introduce our top selling products at the moment~

SIMPLE DIY INSTALLATION GUIDE
For now, we will teach you the simplest way to DIY install the cushion flooring.
- Clean the floor thoroughly, you don’t want to stick your tape onto dirt or oily substance which may cause the tape to slip in the future.
- Measure with a tape to confirm how much floor sheet you need to use for each strip, and also the direction you want to lay it in. (Patterns!)
- Paste the double sided tapes down around the corners of the room.
- Next, stick it in a ladder shape at intervals of 50cm. If you have more tape to spare and want a more stable construction, you can stick them closer to each other.
[br] - Lay down the cushion flooring without peeling off the silicone tape.
- Cut about 5cm longer than the size of the room. (If you are pattern matching the 2nd strip onwards, cut more according to the pattern to be matched!)
- Push the cushion flooring as close to the wall.
- Turn over the cushion flooring and attach double-sided tape to the location of where the seams are. It is very important to make sure the seams are well closed.
[br]
- Crease and fold the extra cushion flooring against the wall.
- Use the spatula to support the cutter while you are cutting the extra floor sheet.
- Now it’s time to stick the cushion floor sheet! Turn up the floor sheet and peel off the silicone tapes slowly without moving the floor sheet too much.
- Brush out trapped air under the cushion floor sheet with a brush or squish. Done!
